And just like that, Luke Combs becomes the highest-selling RIAA-certified country artist of all time. This may come as a shock to older country music fans as it puts him above Garth Brooks' record, but with the RIAA counting both digital and physical sales along with streams, Combs shot ahead with a combined 168 million units.

As expected, Combs was humble about the achievement. “When my team first told me about this, my initial reaction was, 'Are you sure? There’s no way’” and expressed his gratitude for his fans, “I’m super humbled by the fans’ belief in me and support of my music today and over the years, I know this does not happen without them. This achievement is more so theirs than it is mine," Combs shared in a press release.
This record can just be added to the long list that 11x CMA, 4x ACM, 6x Billboard Music Award-winner, and Grand Ole Opry member Combs has accrued. He is the country artist with the most diamond-certified singles, standing at four with “Hurricane”, “Beautiful Crazy”, “When It Rains It Pours”, and “She Got the Best of Me”.
Combs became the first country artist to have two songs reach a billion streams on Spotify. His current single "Back in the Saddle" sits at #8 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart after “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” led him to spend 53 cumulative weeks atop the chart, giving Combs the most consecutive #1 singles of any artist to start their career.
However, Combs doesn’t plan on slowing down, as he announced the“My Kinda Saturday Night” tour on October 9, named after a track from the 3-song EP “The Prequel” he dropped just days before.
Among his busy schedule, Comb’s opened Category 10, a bar, restaurant, and live music venue in downtown Nashville just last year. Additionally, Combs and his wife, Nicole, announced in September that they are expecting their third child. Combs' achievements keep stacking up, and the RIAA sales record is just another reason to count him as a country music legend. We wish him continued success as we head into awards season.
